The Struggle Within


“The deepest struggle you will have—will start within your spirit. It is a struggle in your innermost being, as you ask yourself the question, who am I? And this struggle gets worse when you don’t know who your parents are.”


He paused to let that sink in.


“But this is a struggle that you must resolve. You must resolve this struggle, or you will do a lot of damage to yourself and others.”


His eyes landed on Madison and he smiled before continuing. “Because, you see, that struggle…that pain in your heart, if left unresolved will be like a volcanic eruption in your life—destroying everything that it touches.”


His eyes wandered around the room. “So today, I want you to give that struggle to Jesus Christ, and allow Him to take care of you. Every struggle that you give to Him, He will take, and He will help you.”


A round of applause broke out, so Tyler paused until it died down.


“Now, you have got to be big enough to learn to lean on someone—because sometimes, your hands are not big enough…your feet are not strong enough…to carry your struggle.


“Sometimes, the struggle is too great, and you will need to talk with someone about it—a counselor, your foster parents, your pastor. Someone who can help to quell the struggle within you. Someone who will pray with you and help to steady your hands and feet when you feel like you are falling apart or when you feel like giving up.”


He stared towards the back of the room. “Yes, you will have to learn to lean on others to help you get through the struggle within, or you risk destroying the blessings of God on your life.”


He paused to let that sink in. “You have to genuinely look at yourself. Ask God to help you. Say to the Almighty God, ‘God, You are the father of the fatherless. Here I am—Your child. Work on me, Lord. Help me to be right. Help me to do right. Lead me, Lord, and I will follow.’”


Tyler paused. “God will give you the strength and courage that you need. So, if you are going to have victory over your struggle you must...”
