Discovering Your Purpose: The Journey

You matter! God has a unique plan for your life. He created you for purpose. You see, there is something that God wants done that requires your existence on earth. Ephesians 1:11 (NIV) tells us, “in Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will,” for your life.

Ask yourself this critical question – what is my purpose?

The answer to that very important question along with your views, values, and belief system will shape your life.

What is purpose?

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, purpose is “the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists”. That is, the original intent or reason for the existence of something.

God has an original intent for your life. Consequently, you must discover your purpose. Your purpose is the calling on your life. Purpose will produce your mission. Discovering your God-given purpose will empower you and fill you with excitement.

While not every purpose is known, ignorance of your purpose does not cancel your purpose.

Your Journey

There is nothing like walking in your purpose. It will literally set you free. We are reminded in Ephesians 2:10 (KJV) that “…we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

In light of the foregoing Scripture, God has predetermined the path for your life. The destination is already set before you start the journey.

Note too that everything that happens in your life will take you back to your purpose. Romans 8:28 (KJV) “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Your purpose is of utmost importance and it is powerful, because it will prevail (succeed, win) over your plans. Proverbs 19:21 (NIV) – “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

Admittedly, at an early age, some people have clear signs of their purpose. On the other hand, some people have to wait for their purpose to unfold. One thing is sure – you are a great big bundle of potentiality, and the world is waiting to experience you.

Go to God in prayer and ask Him about your purpose. You are perfectly designed for your purpose and you need to recognize and embraced it.
