By Genevieve D. Woods
Pastor Derrick Caine has spent his adult life serving the members of Liberty Fellowship Church. He has been a faithful husband to one wife. In one day, his world changes when his wife leaves him for a woman. He must do some soul-searching to find himself and his faith again. Rachel Buford has been a trophy basketball wife and loving mother. She loses her husband to death in a scandalous way. She now has a chance for a fresh start in life, love, and faith. These two wounded souls develop what seems to be an unbreakable bond until Derrick’s wife returns with a secret that can blow up their new-found happiness. Can Pastor Derrick Find Real Love? Finding Real Love can be read as a stand-alone novel. However, it is recommended that you read All I’ll Ever Ask, After Church, Dawn and Autumn, Just Be Held, and The Conclusion, to truly appreciate Pastor Caine’s Story.
What style of writing do you practice?
I write from what I like to believe is a spiritual practice/viewpoint and how it relates to the trials and triumphs of everyday life. How do you select the names of your characters?
I use family names most of the times, other times, I allow my reading group to name characters as a contest with an award. My thirteen-year-old son has named several characters. On an occasion, when I am in a dark mood and need to create a character with an evil heart, I google the character traits. I have a work in progress with an evil mother. Google the demigoddess Lamia 😊 Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?
Yes, I read every book review. I love the good ones since they encourage me to continue my writing journey. The bad or constructive ones, I take them to heart, research how to improve in the areas the readers did not enjoy. In addition, I send those reviews to my editor and beta reader and ask them to help me not to make those errors again. However, if someone just doesn’t like the story line or my writing style, I honestly thank them for leaving a review and giving me a chance. How many hours do you spend writing weekly?
My goal is to write fifteen to twenty hours a week. I have a career outside of the home that requires a minimum of fifty hours a week, scheduling my writing between work and family life, often has me missing events on Saturdays to accomplish my writing goal. Do you google yourself?
Yes. It is how I find blogs that have featured my books without contacting me. I also look for any piracy sites that may pop up or anything else that could damage my brand.
