Meet our Honoree

Today, we are honoring reader extraordinaire, Gloria White. Gloria enjoys reading and spending time with her family. When asked about the importance of book covers and back cover descriptions in her purchasing decision, Gloria said, "The cover should be one that catches your eye at a glance and the back cover description should make you want to stop, sit down and start reading at that very moment."

Where is your favorite place to read?

Anywhere, I just love to read

What is your favorite Scripture and why?

"Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved." Psalms 62:1-12 (KJV)

I love this Scripture because no matter what difficulties I may encounter in this world, I know that He is my rock. True peace and rest can only be found in God.

What got you into reading in the first place?

I’m really not sure. Once I learned to read at age 4, I couldn’t resist a book. I was that child that went to bed with a flashlight.

What is your favorite genre and why?

Although I read almost all genres, Christian/Romance, Suspense/Mystery, Theology/Christianity, are at the top of my list.

What is your favorite part of a story?

The beginning.

How do you decide whether or not to buy a book?

By reading the description or recommendations from friends

Do you like book teasers? Why or why not?

Yes, because book teasers are like movie previews. You are able to see if you want to read a particular book right away or save for later.

Do you write book reviews? Why or why not?

Yes! I must admit, sometimes I do forget. Also, I want others to know if it was an amazing book. If it’s not so amazing, I think that authors would want to know the readers thoughts.

How can authors attract new readers?

Social Media, ask your social media followers to share.

What would you like to see in authors’ newsletters?

Purchase links to their books, trivia, interactive things where we can engage with the author.
